Hey entrepreneur – are you on salary from your business? This week on The Entrepreneur Coach Podcast, Pamela Jean and I dive into an insightful conversation about the importance of valuing yourself as an entrepreneur – and putting yourself on salary!

Pamela’s journey from starting a portrait photography studio to becoming a successful business owner in a male-dominated industry brings a unique perspective to the discussion. She emphasizes the significance of cultivating the right mindset to take care of ourselves through payroll. How do we, as female entrepreneurs, learn to achieve success in our businesses by paying ourselves first?

Watch the full episode here:

  1. The Importance of Paying Yourself as an Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurs should understand the importance of valuing their work and compensating themselves adequately. By doing so, they can ensure that their financial needs are met, allowing them to focus better on their business. Paying yourself not only asserts self-worth but also sends a strong message about the value of your work to clients and competitors.

Pamela believes it is crucial for an entrepreneur to pay themselves because if an entrepreneur can’t sustain their own financial needs, it could jeopardize the entire business’ survival. If you can’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of your business.

  1. Building a Business That Can Run Without You
A sign of a successful business is its ability to operate even when you’re not there. It’s essential to create efficient systems, train a reliable team, and ensure smooth operations at all times. This gives you the flexibility you need to take breaks, seek new opportunities, be with your loved ones, or even retire without worrying about the business’s fate.

Pamela believes in having a structure in place that allows the business to thrive independently, which helps her create long-term sustainability.

  1. The Power of a Resilient Mindset
A resilient mindset is a powerful tool and essential when you’re building a business.

In her own journey, Pamela was faced with skepticism from others, but she maintained an unfaltering belief in her abilities. Her no-excuse mindset stemmed from her childhood on the farm, where she learned the value of hard work and persistence. This undying optimism continues to be her driving force and has significantly contributed to her success as an entrepreneur, and it’s what she teaches clients today.

The entrepreneurial journey can be hard, especially for female entrepreneurs because we’re taught from the very beginning to put ourselves last. Putting ourselves first can be difficult to do, but if we want to succeed as business owners and entrepreneurs, then we have to learn how to put ourselves first.
