Have you ever felt like you were standing in your own way or unconsciously preventing yourself from living up to your full potential?

Many of us fall into patterns of self-sabotage, where we make decisions from a place of fear rather than faith in ourselves. Second-guessing yourself, seeking validation from others, and hesitating to take necessary risks, can lead to missed opportunities and stagnant growth, and you may find yourself stuck instead of moving forward.

My recent podcast guest Katja Lany and I got to have a phenomenal conversation about this, and she shared her journey of reframing failure as valuable information and making decisions from an embodied knowing.

How do you build confidence in yourself, make confident decisions in your business, and start to see failures as learning experiences?

  1. Shifting from Self-Sabotage to Solution-Oriented Thinking
It’s strange how we can often be our own worst enemies. Self-sabotage is one of the worst ways we hurt ourselves, too — that spiral of self-doubt and self-criticism that keeps us stuck. Now, what if we switched gears for a change? What if we moved towards solution-oriented thinking instead?

Katja recognized this shift and implemented it in her own life. We all have moments of self-doubt and self-criticism, but what Katja realized was that when those moments came up, if she focused on learning from her mistakes, her business got better. She made more confident decisions, and this change in mindset was pivotal in her journey as an entrepreneur.

  1. Making Decisions from an Embodied Place
Have you ever wondered why we so often make decisions that just don’t feel right? Sometimes, our well-tuned minds can actually skew our decisions, leading us down the wrong paths. We’ll think of a solution or an idea, then immediately tell ourselves how wrong it is, why we “shouldn’t” do it, and then we end up choosing to do something that doesn’t align with our values.

And this is why Katja is a big advocate of tapping into our bodies instead of our minds when making decisions. When she ditched the conventional decision-making playbook and decided to rely on her body and intuition to guide her, it helped her make decisions that were in tune with her true self and bypass any constant second-guessing. Her approach shows the power of trusting your instincts and making decisions that resonate with every fiber of your being.

  1. Embracing Failure as a Learning Opportunity
Instead of viewing failure as something terrible and bad, what if we saw it as a learning opportunity? When we make mistakes, whether they’re big or small, we’re quick to judge ourselves for not knowing or doing better. Whenever you do fail at something (you will and that’s okay! Failure is not a bad word), look at it as a stepping stone to building a more-aligned business for yourself. Every mistake helps you analyze your process, refine it, and come back stronger.

Katja did just that. She went through her share of trials and tribulations, and every time she stumbled, she did not see it as a roadblock. Instead, she chose to see it as an opportunity for growth and development. Those so-called failures were her lessons, her stepping stones towards the path of success.
